Course Description:
The Video Editor Internship Program is designed to provide students with hands-on experience in video editing, post-production, and visual storytelling. Interns will work on a variety of video projects ranging from promotional videos and social media content to short films and corporate videos. The program will teach essential video editing techniques, from basic cuts to advanced visual effects and motion graphics.

Throughout the internship, students will gain proficiency with industry-standard video editing software like Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, and DaVinci Resolve, as well as motion graphics tools like Adobe After Effects. By the end of the program, interns will be able to independently edit high-quality videos and be well-prepared to pursue a career in video production, media, or entertainment.

Course Content Highlight:
Introduction to Video Editing
•    Overview of the video production process: pre-production, production, and post-production
•    Introduction to video editing software: Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve
•    Basic video editing terminology: clips, transitions, timelines, sequences, keyframes

Basic Video Editing Techniques
•    Importing, organizing, and managing media files in editing software
•    Cutting, trimming, and arranging clips on the timeline
•    Working with audio: syncing audio with video, adjusting levels, and basic sound editing
•    Basic transitions: fades, wipes, dissolves, and crossfades

Video and Audio Synchronization

•    Syncing audio with video clips using timecode and waveform
•    Multi-camera editing: switching between different camera angles in an efficient way
•    Removing background noise, normalizing audio, and adding sound effects
•    Music editing: syncing music to video, adjusting the audio for dramatic effect

Color Grading and Correction
•    Introduction to color correction: adjusting brightness, contrast, and white balance
•    Basic color grading techniques to set the mood of the video (warm, cold, neutral tones)
•    Working with LUTs (Look-Up Tables) and color grading tools in Adobe Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve
•    Understanding the importance of color theory in video editing and its impact on storytelling

Advanced Editing Techniques
•    Creating and using motion graphics and visual effects with Adobe After Effects
•    Adding titles, lower thirds, and captions to your video projects
•    Keyframing and animation: animating objects and text within your video
•    Understanding the importance of pacing and timing in editing

Creating Visual Effects
•    Applying visual effects (VFX) to enhance the storytelling of a video
•    Tracking and masking techniques to create dynamic effects and integrate CGI
•    Chroma keying (green screen) and compositing for special effects
•    Integrating visual elements such as graphics, animations, and 3D effects into live-action footage

Working with Audio
•    Understanding audio editing: removing unwanted noise, EQ, compression, and reverb
•    Adding sound effects and background music to enhance the video’s mood
•    Audio mixing techniques: balancing audio levels and ensuring clarity
•    Creating dynamic audio environments that complement the video visuals

Exporting and Rendering
•    Choosing the correct export settings based on platform and intended use (YouTube, social media, film, etc.)
•    Understanding codecs, resolution, and file formats
•    Rendering techniques to ensure high-quality output while minimizing file size
•    Batch exporting and optimizing video for different platforms (e.g., Instagram, YouTube, Vimeo)

Project Workflow and Collaboration
•    Working with project files: creating and managing timelines, assets, and sequences
•    Collaborative editing: using cloud-based project sharing tools like Frame.io or Wipster
•    Organizing assets, labeling clips, and managing media in large-scale video projects
•    Efficient editing workflows to meet tight deadlines and high production standards

Capstone Project
•    Interns will be assigned a project where they edit a short video, commercial, or promotional video from start to finish
•    This project will include receiving raw footage, editing, adding effects, sound, and delivering the final product
•    Present the final video to mentors or clients, explaining the editing choices, creative direction, and technical processes
